Hello, I am looking for a location to shoot three nights at. The project is on a low budget and I am still in need of a location. I have been looking for a very long time but I cannot afford $5000 per night to shoot this short. I am a starving student who could really use some help. My budget for location is $1500 which is for the Nights of July 31st August 1st and August 2nd. The story is set in the 50's so the location would need to be older than the 1950's.
I am insured through Kelly Co LLC.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, below is a development plan to get you more familiar with the project.
Synopsis
On a cold and rainy night in the spring of 1953 two reporters receive
an inside tip regarding a double homicide just outside the Salazzo
Family’s territory. The two reporters have been covering the Salazzo
family murders for several months as turmoil rises. Every inside look
they get gives them an edge over rival press, but tonight, when they
are closer than they have ever been before, more in depth than any
other case, they find themselves in a mess they wish they hadn’t
gotten into. Nothing could have prepared them for The Murder on Clark
Street.
Genre
The Murder on Clark Street is a crime suspense movie that incorporates
crime and mobs, with mystery and suspense. Ultimately I think this
film could be described as a suspense story but mystery, and crime
should not be forgotten as they hold strong recurring themes that take
place in the film.
Tone
The tone for this film is very dark film noir, there is high contrast
and high saturation (not so much film noir). It has a very graphic
novel feel to it and is over done in terms of tone to give a very
cinematic look about it.
Budget
The Budget for this film is rather low. Since it is a short story of
only four pages I believe it can be made, and made well for $7000
dollars minimum budget. This includes camera rental, lens rentals,
location, actors, insurance, grip/electric equipment, special effects,
trucks, etc.
Character Breakdowns
McFadden: is a single, never married, compulsive, obsessive,
detective. He is the lead detective investigating the Chicago mob
wars, specifically the Salazzo Family. He has been on the force for
nearly ten years and is notorious for feeding the press news stories
against the mob. McFadden is a greedy, blunt, and undermining
individual that thrives on crime. McFadden finds himself showing two
reporters a crime scene that defiantly makes the morning headlines.
Haylin: a dedicated reporter. He is married of twelve years and has
two children whom he works to put food for on the table. He is
capable, stubborn, hard working, and compelled which motivates him to
do more than simply report, but rather to engage in investigative
reporting. Lately, Haylin has been receiving inside looks at murders
regarding the Salazzo Family. Haylin finds himself just inches away
from figuring out who Salazzo’s inside man is, and the evidence to put
Salazzo away for good.
Mack: a young, witty, reporter in his mid 20’s. Mack is Haylin’s
partner in reporting the Salazzo family headlines. Despite being quite
a bit younger than Haylin he is very smart, clever and adds a lot to
Haylin’s stories. Mack is more about the story than the investigative
side of reporting, but doesn’t dare stand in the way of Haylin’s
investigative side. After only a few weeks being Haylin’s partner he
finds himself between all the answers he wasn’t looking for.
